About the keynote speakers

Anna Garton: Anna works at LSJH, a Finnish municipal waste management company that coordinates the nationwide textile waste collection network, to find the best circular solution for all household collected end-of-life textiles. This means finding ways that the raw materials they produce can be utilized, working with partners in various industries and supply chains, creating new products and markets for recycled materials. She also participates in several European and national research projects, such as tExtended and Telavalue.

Dr Edward Randviir: Edward is a senior lecturer in green and inorganic chemistry at Manchester Metropolitan University. He obtained his MChem in chemistry and nanotechnology from the University of Hull in 2011, and his PhD in the frequency-dependent applications of carbon electrodes and carbon nanomaterials from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2015. After spending 3 years consulting for Greater Manchester Waste he was employed by Manchester Metropolitan in 2018. His research surrounds waste and recycling issues and using research methods to aid in technical solutions towards recycling currently unrecycled waste materials. He currently holds two Innovate UK grants working with local businesses in and around Greater Manchester and is treasurer of the Royal Society of Chemistry Manchester local section.

Cherie Nelson: Cherie is the Head of Buying and Sourcing at the fashion and lifestyle retailer Urban Outfitters Europe. She has worked with young fashion brands managing global apparel supply chains for over two decades. She is also a postgraduate student at the Cambridge University Institute for Sustainability Leadership, where her research focuses on circularity in the textiles and apparel sector.

Laura Vicaria: Laura is a circular fashion expert dedicated to steering the industry towards a sustainable future. Through her consultancy, 'Rethink Fashion,' Laura empowers brands to embrace circularity as the cornerstone of resilience and longevity. With a wealth of experience, she has pioneered circular solutions, from crafting strategies for global brands to driving innovative recycling projects and guiding the implementation of circular design principles. Laura's mission extends beyond consultancy; it's a call to action for a mindset shift towards circular thinking, reimagining and transforming the fashion industry for a more sustainable tomorrow.

Jo-Anne Godden: Jo-Anne is a strong advocate of Circular Economy business. After 30 years working in the 'unsustainable' fashion industry, Jo launched the world's first Circular sportswear business rubymoon.org.uk. She now is spearheading new technology to enable new and circular value chains to decarbonise the sportswear industry, with a focus on stretch nylon textiles.

Dr Shova Thapa Karki: Shova is a senior lecturer at the University of Sussex with expertise in the intersection of entrepreneurship and sustainability. Her research interests focus on the role of entrepreneurship in contributing to sustainable development goals, including social and sustainable entrepreneurship, women's entrepreneurship and empowerment, and the circular economy. Shova has a track record in knowledge exchange working with circular business communities in Brighton and Hove and serving as a member of the Circular Economy oversight board at the Brighton and Hove city council.
