1976 was a year of great cinema as well as great social unrest. Through the classic films: NETWORK, NEWS FROM HOME, and TAXI DRIVER, this curated trilogy, We’re Mad As Hell, looks 50-year back into the past to examine the anger and alienation of the times. NETWORK: In 1975 terrorist violence was the stuff of network nightly news programming and the corporate structure of the UBS television network was changing. Meanwhile, Howard Beale, the aging UBS news anchor, has lost his once strong ratings share and so the network fired him. Beale reacts in an unexpected way.
