Join us in celebrating Port Dover’s fishing community and the award winning film, Netting the Waters. The top-grossing movie shown at the Strand Theatre in Simcoe over the past 25 years does not feature Tom Cruise driving a motorcycle off a cliff or Margot Robbie bringing Barbie to the big screen.
Netting the Waters is a documentary created by local photographer and videographer, Daryl Granger. It showcases life on the water as a commercial fisherman and features local Captains and Crew.
The film has won numerous awards from film festivals across the world, has been playing in movie theatres from London to Toronto and has had over 100 screenings locally at Simcoe’s Strand Theatre as tickets continually sold out.
We are brining this documentary home to Port Dover with an outdoor viewing event. The event will celebrate the local fishing community with live music, local food from Gator BBQ and fun games and activities for the entire family.
This is a non-licensed event, no alcohol will be sold or permitted. No coolers allowed. Drinks and snacks will also be available for purchase. Admission is by donation.
All funds raised will support the Port Dover’s Kinsmen Splash Pad.
Event sponsors are: Kristina Kett of Edward Jones Port Dover, Ray and Amie Ferris of Erie’s Edge Real Estate, the Port Dover Kinsmen Club and the Port Dover Lions Club.
Rain date: May 10, 2025.
