Net Zero Food & Beverage Forum: Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation is aimed at bringing together the senior ecision-makers involved in Food and Beverage manufacturing, utility companies, energy providers, as well as infrastructure enablers for a two-day business networking event scheduled for February 2023 in Berlin, Germany.
The critical pressure on the food and beverage industry comes with the “Fit for 55” package. The set of proposals constitutes the EU’s environmental measures imposing the overall goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 and ultimately reach climate neutrality in the EU by 2050. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the F&B industry is responsible for a third of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The food and beverage sector may contribute to the EU’s Green Deal goals by decarbonizing its operations and lowering power consumption. Due to the instability in energy prices, diverting to carbon-free energy sources and renewables will play a significant role as a cost-minimizing factor.
The summit is aimed at supporting the food and beverage industry by creating a roadmap to carbon neutrality, by operationalising sustainability from upstream to downstream. Additionally, to discuss solutions and strategies for meeting net zero targets, scale up the environmental-friendly manufacturing practices and define and deploy the Zero Loss Culture strategies.
