Nerd Nite: Indian music, Particules, and Planets!
Do you like music ? Do you like stargazing ? Do you like sharing a drink with (future) friends ? Come to Nerd Nite on November 29th to learn about new things and meet curious people !
What to Expect? Expect three fun-yet-interesting presentations in English, each lasting about 20 minutes, followed by questions. Our passionate speakers will share their expertise and insights about various topics:
The Structure to "Thought" - By Sudeepta Sakaar
India has a rich history of music that has accumulated influences through different eras of its history. Each part of India has its own musical expression, to tell its tale in its own unique way. In this talk, I will share a listener-turned-practitioner POV of one of the popular streams of North Indian Classical Music, called Khayāl, which literally means ‘thought’. Come join us where we listen to excerpts of music and analyze its structure, and try to understand how the erudite artists of Khayāl present this music extempore, sometimes for hours.
Ludmilla Dirson will gide us through some of the most energetic events in the universe and teach us what drives them and produces all the elements we see around us ! (More info coming soon)
