About this Event

As we approach the end of our NEPTuNE programme, the Neonatal and Children's Brain Consortium Ireland (NBCI) is delighted to invite you to an Open Meeting as part of our NEPTuNE Study Day.

The meeting will take place on Monday, 27th May from 10.30 am until 1 pm in Regent House on Trinity College’s main campus.


The agenda for the day will include


  • An overview of the NEPTuNE programme(Professor Eleanor Molloy, Chair of Paediatrics, TCD & Professor Geraldine Boylan, Director of INFANT Centre, UCC)
  • The Scholar's perspective (NEPTuNE PhD Scholars)
  • The PPI Perspective (Mandy Daly, INHA)
  • Annalisa Montesanti from the Health Research Board will speak about the value of the CDA programme
  • Next Steps - Sustainability of the Research (Prof Eleanor Molloy & Prof Geraldine Boylan)


Our guest speaker for the event is Professor Nikki Robertson (Consultant Neonatologist and Professor of Perinatal Neuroscience at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Institute for Women's Health, University College London (UCL) and at the University of Edinburgh).


The HRB Neonatal PhD Training Network (NEPTuNE) commenced in May 2018. The programme brought researchers with expertise in neonatolagy, paediatrics, neurodevelopment, PPI, clinical trials and methodology, and neuroimaging in neonatal brain injury to improve outcomes for infants with NE. The €1.4 million grant was led by Professor Eleanor Molloy, TCD, and co-lead, Professor Geraldine Boylan, INFANT Centre, UCC and included Professor Declan Devane, University College Galway and Mandy Daly, Irish Neonatal Health Alliance amongst its collaborators.
