NeoQuartet’s BERGEN concert is a part of a tour culminating the two-year Neo Edu Arte educational program. It is a presentation of six multimedia compositions written for acoustic and electric string quartet by composers from Iceland, Norway and Poland.
The Neo Edu Arte program was part of the Neo Voyager project implemented by the NeoArte Association and NeoQuartet in 2022 - 2024 thanks to the support of the EEA Funds.
The main idea of the project was to implement the Norwegian and Icelandic editions of the NeoArte - Synthesizer of Arts festival in 2023-2024 and to implement an educational program for unique composers from Iceland, Norway and Poland. As part of the project, 6 new compositions for string quartet were created, the premieres of which were performed during the NeoArte - Art Synthesizer festival, Reykjavik edition in March 2024.
The diversity and creativity of young composers allowed them to create multimedia, conceptual, multi-layered, sometimes surprisingly minimalistic compositions. We are certainly dealing with works that set new directions in the development of the contemporary string quartet.
This type of composition perfectly suits NeoQuartet, which is a group looking for new paths in the development of this royal instrumental setup.
