Nelson Jewellery Week presents: Family Jewels Records An evening of golden grooves and sparkling dancefloor gems with Fam, Grant Smithies and B.Lo, laid on for your dancing pleasure as part of NELSON JEWELLERY WEEK 2025.
Only happening twice a year and always selling out, the Family Jewels dance parties are renowned for their joyous energy, diverse grooves and lovely location, out under the stars in the Deville courtyard.
Expect a bold and soulful vinyl-only mix of disco/ house/ funk/ Afrobeat/ dancehall and more.
For this special Nelson Jewellery Week event your DJs are three avid music obsessives, record collectors and broadcasters.
Fam is a Te Waiharakeke based DJ, curator and broadcaster with Blenheim's House Of Pluto crew, regularly finding fresh places to bring the party to the people and explore his personal philosophy of the "dance floor as liberating space." Grant Smithies co-founded pioneering Aotearoa dance event The Gathering, writes about music for the Sunday Star Times, reviews records on RNZ National and runs the tiny but mighty Family Jewels record shack. And Paul “B.Lo” Berrington has been a resident DJ at much-loved Wellington bars Matterhorn and Havana alongside hosting assorted radio slots and running his own Strange Behaviour record label.
