“Neighbours’ Day” Pairs Decluttering with Social Impact and Discovering the Hood.
Happening this Saturday, 24 January 2026, it is a heartland festival that turns the annual tradition of Spring Cleaning in preparation for Lunar New Year, into a neighbourhood event with impact.
This heartland festival transforms decluttering into a tangible expression of kampung spirit by providing more than 200 vulnerable families (identified by Bishan CC and/or Blue/Orange CHAS card-holders) with priority access to essential pre-loved items while celebrating the vibrant local home-based offerings and talents within the estate.
In a twist on the traditional flea market, Neighbours’ Day features a “Free Flea Market” where no money changes hands. Residents are encouraged to donate pre-loved items in good condition, which are then made available to the community for free. This event is a significant expansion of the movement’s mission to bring people together and its previous Giving Day successes.
GoodHood.SG has successfully built a digital kampung with more than 120,000 registered members, and Neighbours’ Day serves as a physical “pop-up” of this movement, one among its other regular neighbourhood engagement events.
Besides the free flea market, residents can also find a Kampung Corner:
● Potluck-style Makan: Potluck-style food at a shared community table to eat and connect with other members of the community.
● Interests and Community Groups: A dedicated area for ground-up initiatives and interest groups that allows residents to discover shared hobbies, home-based offerings (baking, teaching, etc.) and volunteer-led care circles.
● Neighbourhood Fun: Designed to be inclusive for all ages, residents can also expect family-friendly activities, including bouncy castles, games, popcorn, and Milo vans!
