A relaxed collective walk exploring what we can learn from our neighbourhoods
About this Event

1.30pm: Meet us early for a cuppa or to join Birmingham Settlement's Tai Chi class
2.30pm: Walkshop begins
What can our streets teach us, if we stop to pay attention?
Join us the second of two ‘walkshops’ around Ladywood, to explore what we notice about our neighbourhoods when we slow down, how it makes us feel, and what we imagine our shared spaces could look like in the future.Inspired by the practices of Street Detectorism and Street Wisdom, this walkshop is an invitation to discover what we can learn when we tune in to the intelligence of our bodies, and reconnect with our curiosity about the everyday.
We will leave Birmingham Settlement Nature & Wellbeing Centre (the 'Red Shed') at 2.30pm and make our slow way to the Floating Front Room barge on the canal at South Loop Park. Meet us at Red Shed at 1.30pm to share a cuppa, or to take part in Birmingham Settlement's Tai Chi class (1.30pm - 2.30pm, note spaces may be limited).
We will stop at points along the way to look around and reflect on prompt questions, with space to share through conversation or writing notes.
Whether you’ve walked with us before or are joining for the first time, everyone is welcome, of all ages. If you have any queries, drop us a line at .

About Neighbourhood Trade School

This walkshop is part of the re-opening of Neighbourhood Trade School, the beginnings of a school for climate transition based on the principle that everyone has something to share and everyone has something to learn. Neighbourhood Trade School restarts on 9 April and will take place Tuesday evenings at Midlands Sailing Club. Keep an eye on our Neighbourhood Trade School Eventbrite page for details of upcoming classes.

Access

Let us know any access needs when you sign up, so we can suggest a walk that works for all of us (there is a wheelchair accessible option). There will not be regular spots to stop and sit down along the route, but you are welcome to join us for as little or as much of the walk as you like.
