About this Event
You're invited to join community members from across Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands who have participated in the Neighbourhood Small Grants program: project leaders, committee members, and coordinators! Registration is limited to 80 participants and prioritizes equitable representation from all Island communities.
The theme of the garthering this year is: expanding our collective well-being.
We'll be gathering on traditional Hul’qumi’num- and SENĆOŦEN -speaking peoples Territory to network, share project ideas, and focus on how Neighbourhood Small Grants can build more equitable and inclusive communities! The event will feature:
- presentations from inspiring Island NSG projects
- learning and discussion about equity, decolonization, and social justice
- a tasty lunch to share together
- the opportunity to participate in a live NSG project or two
The "why" for the gathering is simple: when we feel a sense of belonging in our community, we're more likely to be engaged in activities that make it a better place to live. While we're coming together from communities far and wide, we share a common experience as Islanders, and have so much to learn from and teach to each other. You'll take away from the gathering:
- celebrating the identity for our Island NSG network
- an experience of an NSG project and a sense of what's possible: projects, people, and inclusivity.
- and exhilerated interest and commitment to your work as a community-builder
