Join us for a Neighborhood Walk & Talk - an event in which we (residents) gather to observe the state of the sidewalks and the overall design of streets as they walk through the community. Sometimes called a “Walk Audit,” these walks help us determine where our streets could be more comfortable, safe, accessible, and inviting to people outside of cars, and what we as residents can do to improve them! Here are the event details:
Place: Waldorf West Library - meet at the Flagpoles by the front entrance (address is 10405 O’Donnell Pl)
Date: October 12th
Time: 11:30am-12:30pm
The walk will be about 2 miles at a leisurely pace, and we will likely stop to talk about things we see along the way. This walk is on a mixture of asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalks, and wooden boardwalk planks. Route should have curb cuts and be generally accessible for people rolling. 👩🏽🦼➡️👨🏿🦽➡️
Optional: bring a clipboard and high vis vest! We will provide worksheets for you to write down important observations, if you want to check them out in advance, go to www.aarp.org/livable-communities/getting-around/aarp-walk-audit-worksheets-english.hrml
In the case of stormy weather, a cancellation announcement will be posted on this event page about 24 hours before the event.
