***CEDARS COMFORT BAG PACKING THIS SAT., 8.16, 10:30 at FULL CITY ROOSTER!***Hey, Neighbors:
Here's the free pantry you all have made possible. This stands across from the Cedars' unofficial headquarters, FULL CITY ROOSTER, and is supplied (and resupplied) by your generosity. FCR owner Michael Wyatt reports seeing folks drop by restock the shelf with new packaged items, and we're collectively grateful for your willingness to pitch in at a time when more and more folks around us are struggling. Please keep doing what you can.You never know when someone is going to need what you have to offer!
Along these lines, we've been collecting small hygiene items at Full City Rooster -- everything from toothbrushes to microfiber cloths -- to place on these same shelves, a few bags at a time, to give some comfort to those in our community who aren't in a position to purchase these items right now. The list is pinned under the Featured tab to the top of this page from a previous posting, and we're still hoping to get some items -- particularly over-the-counter medicines packaged in small quantities (think blister packs of Tylenol, Pepto-Bismol and the like). And while we would love to get more of these items, we have more than enough to create our first packages.
If you're willing and able to join us, please bring a couple of cartons of gallon-sized zip bags or similar, reuseable packaging and/or a Sharpie or two so we can create some comfort bags for the pantry this Saturday at FULL CITY ROOSTER. Bring your stuff, grab a coffee and join us in the back room at 10:30 a.m. and we'll spend an hour or so making our first orund of comfort bags and as many as we can fill to make restocking easy. (And if you happen to bring some ramen or other similar packages food items, we will hail you as a hero). Hope to see you this weekend!
