It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Learn the art of needle felting with Caryn Summers, Fiber Artist, and create your very own needle felted ornament(s). This ancient artform is meditative and very relaxing! We’ll turn up the holiday tunes, explore fiber arts, and take home the cutest wool ornament(s).Needle felting is quick, easy, and inexpensive, requiring very few tools and taking up little space. Once students learn the basics of felting using dyed wool and a barbed needle, they are set free to explore their creativity and keep creating!
Students will be taken through the step-by-step process of creating a wool ornament and will leave the class with the skills and knowledge needed to create cute needle felted decorations.
Students will have options of several techniques to create some fun and whimsical Christmas ornaments that can be heirloom pieces:
• 2D Needle Felting for beginners,
• Felting around a styrofoam ball for intermediate,
• and 3D free form felting for those with a sense of adventure.
Your ticket includes all the supplies, and access to the tools you'll need to create during class.
• All the fibers (wool roving and felt) you’ll need to craft 2 - 3 ornaments
• Felting needles in various sizes
• Felting pads
• Leather finger covers
• Ribbon or twine
• Any sewing materials needed for your project
• Styrofoam balls
• Special Teeswater and Wensleydale fleece locks (for beards and other things)
• Beads, glitter or other fun embellishments!
Caryn will have extra supplies (needles and felting pads, etc.) for purchase if you choose to finish your ornaments at home.
No experience is necessary. All materials are included. Workshop is appropriate for all adults and ages over 10 years, but children will need adult accompaniment.
All workshop sales are final. While we can transfer your ticket to another participant, due to the prep and materials costs, refunds are not available.
