Interactive Theatre production on Head and Neck Cancer. This is a joint project between NEEA&CA, Newcastle University and Forum Theatre Project - (NEEA&CA, Théâtre Sans Frontières and Newcastle University) The aim of this piece of forum theatre is to give you the chance to learn about a group of cancers called "head and neck" cancers, and to explore ways of communicating with GP's and dentists about potential cancer symptoms. You will be shown 4 scenes; following the stories of 2 different people. Then you will be given the chance to change the interactions; what could have been done differently? What do you think they should ask the GP? You will be given the chance to ask the actors to try the scene again and you can ask the characters to try a different action or ask a specific question and see how this changes the experience.
This workshop is about exploring different ways of communicating with healthcare professionals and although the focus will be on head and neck cancer symptoms the skills and techniques will help regardless of what the symptoms you want to talk about are.
There will be a question and answer session afterwards and following that we are also hoping to have people from different cancer services; such as screening and support, as well as charities that can help. Giving you the opportunity to speak to people and build your knowledge around cancer symptoms.
Finally ending the event as all events should, with food!
