Discover New England’s Ancient Places at the NEARA Fall 2025 Conference
Bridgewater MA — September 28 2025 — New England Antiquities Research Association (NEARA) invites the public to its Fall 2025 Conference November 7–9 at Bridgewater State University. This year’s theme Ancient Places Living Histories: Stones Stories and Settlement explores New England’s stone landscapes indigenous histories and archaeological traditions.
The program features a keynote banquet talk by Dr. Sarah Baires an archaeologist known for her work at Cahokia the largest pre-Columbian city in North America. It will also include a featured presentation by Dr. Ian Saxine historian at Bridgewater State University on Plymouth–Wampanoag relations in early Massachusetts. Additional presentations will highlight Wampanoag traditions New England’s stone walls petroglyphs and sacred sites.
Conference attendees can also join guided field trips to historic and cultural sites in southeastern Massachusetts including King Philip’s Rock Middleborough Plymouth and Foxborough State Forest.
