Step into NC MOD: Mid-Century Design and North Carolina’s Modern Legacy at The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards. Our newest exhibition celebrates the region’s modernist spirit by showcasing furniture, architecture, art, and design by both mid-century craftsmen and contemporary artists.Tracing the evolution of modernism across North Carolina and the Piedmont, NC MOD highlights the ways architects and designers translated modern principles across disciplines, transforming homes, workplaces, and everyday objects. This ambitious exhibition examines how North Carolina emerged as a vital hub for modern design and one of the most significant centers of modern architecture in the nation.
This exhibition was developed in collaboration with AIA Piedmont and Thayer Coggin Inc with support from Karla Jones at the Bienenstock Furniture Library, Charles Sutton, the High Point Museum, and the team at American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame.
