Intermediate Course (6 weeks)
Textile : Textile is an umbrella term that includes various fiber-based materials, including fibers, yarns, filaments, threads, different fabric types, etc. textiles satisfy the material needs for versatile applications, from simple daily clothing to bulletproof jackets, spacesuits, and doctor's gowns.
Through this 6 week course you will learn how to design/create a piece of clothing with the textile medium of Crochet.
Every student will learn how to use their creativity/imagination to design a crochet peice of their choosing. You will learn the first 3 main crochet stitches, how to create a fashion concept and turn your concept into physical form. You will be assigned to complete 1 full fashion look (1 completed outfit).
We will also touch on subjects such as fashion history, textile designers within the fashion industry and other industry’s (NASA, medical field, ect.) , the impact of fashion on our environment. How to start selling your work and participate in fashion shows/fashion weeks.
Once this course is completed all students will have the opportunity to present their work in a fashion show at Higher Level on Franklin.
