Are you a budding freelancer or just interested in exploring the world of self-employment? You may have heard the terms gig economy or portfolio career, but what does it mean and how can you prepare for it? Freelancing and self-employment are becoming an increasingly popular career choice. For many, it is more than just that; freelancing is a way of life, offering flexibility, freedom and the opportunity to turn one’s passions into a career. But it does not come without its own challenges. Our comprehensive afternoon workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of freelancing and self-employment. By the end of the session, you’ll have a solid foundation to launch and manage a successful freelance career.
During this session you will:
1. Understand the pros and cons of freelancing and self-employment
2. Learn how to handle contracts, taxes, and manage your finances
3. Learn how to promote your service and retain clients
This session is intended for University of Stirling and Forth Valley College staff, students and alumni and those who reside or have a business in the Forth Valley area. Please note if you do not meet that criteria, your ticket may be cancelled.
