Navigating the Nuances of Consent Workshop

Consent is a deeply nuanced and complex topic. In this interactive workshop, participants will develop the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and discuss consent in their professional roles.

Workshops are co-facilitated by our training team and a counsellor advocate. The workshop emphasises active participation and draws on CASA House’s intersectional feminist and trauma-informed frameworks. Through this approach, participants will:

• Discuss consent in the context of consensual sex and sexual violence
• Examine historical, social, and legal perspectives of consent
• Explore the ways gender and pornography shape understanding and access to consent
• Gain a deeper understanding of sexual expression, oppression, and the role of intersectionality and privilege in accessing consent
• Acquire practical tools and frameworks for discussing and navigating consent in real-world situations

Venue and Catering

Queen Victoria Women's Centre (QVWC) is located at 210 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.

Paid parking is available nearby however, the QV centre is also serviced by many forms of public transport - trains to Melbourne Central, Swanston Street trams and Lonsdale Street buses.

CASA House provides morning and afternoon tea. Training participants are welcome to bring their own lunch or enjoy the selection of food available in the QV food court adjacent to QVWC.

Building access and parking:

• QVWC is wheelchair accessible: There is a ramp on the left side of the front entrance at Lonsdale Street, which leads through to the accessible rear entrance.
• There are multiple accessible bathrooms in the QVWC building (ground level & level 2).
• Short term parking (20 mins) is available at the Lonsdale St entrance.
