Have you heard of Bitcoin and maybe even started to invest without really understanding what exactly it is? Have you ever met a friend or gone on a date and after 3 hours of patient listening you still didn't know what a blockchain is? Do you want to start investing in crypto but don't really know how to get started? Are you unsure which of the many cryptos to choose? Are you sceptical of Bitcoin and other cryptos and want to understand why there is such a buzz around them?
If any of these sound like you, this session is for you.
In this beginner-friendly session, we will cover the basics of crypto, with a focus on Bitcoin as the currently largest crypto (as measured by market capitalization). The first part of this session is designed to let you discover the fundamental ideas behind non-government issued digital currencies to build your own understanding of what they are and aren't. This session is not a traditional lecture, but rather a hands-on, immersive learning session that will let you interact with the functionalities of a blockchain to make you learn from real-life, not theory.
The second part of this session covers the basics on how to start investing in a safe, responsible and regulatory-compliant way. Investment decisions are purely your own and should only be made after having understood the basics and doing your own thorough research.

About Sarah
Sarah Palurovic is a strategic advisor for the Digital Euro Association and program manager for Hyper Island's Design Lead vocational program. She is also an economist and used to be a research assistant at the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center, at one of Germany's leading universities in the fields of finance and innovation. As a member of the German Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management (DVFA) digital assets expert committee, Sarah regularly comments on current developments in digital finance. She co-designed the Master of Blockchain & Digital Assets at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management where she is a lecturer on the economics of Ethereum.
