About this Event
A Community Assistance Center is designed to support the recovery of the community following an All-Hazards Mass Casualty Incident. The Mass Violence Community Assistance Center (MVCAC) should be activated when the incident is a mass violence or terrorism event such as an active shooter/assailant incident which may be the result of an intentional, high-profile, criminal act of violence that results in physical, emotional, or psychological injury to a significantly large number of people. It might be established in response to an incident that occurred on NAU’s campus or in support of an incident that occurred within or near the Flagstaff Community.
Proposed Workshop Objectives
Exercise objectives were discussed by stakeholders and the following language was provisionally adopted:
Identify necessary community stakeholders and partners for the successful implementation of a community assistance center; the focus of which will be to identify the considerations needed to implement a community center after a mass casualty criminal event.
Exercise stakeholders' plans, and identify gaps and the resources needed and available to implement a community assistance center.
Identify the considerations needed to implement the community assistance center in a culturally sensitive fashion to meet the needs of our culturally diverse community members.
