Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park (CEBE) is offering a ranger-led Nature Walk on Sunday, August 25. This 1-hour tour will begin at 10:30 am. Meet at the Moring Attack Trails parking area on US 11. Turn into the parking area, immediately south of the National Park Service Headquarters at 8693 Valley Pike, Middletown, Va. Walk with a park ranger along the ridge overlooking Belle Grove Plantation. On October 19, 1864, this ridge was the site of intense fighting. Now it is an important natural area protected by the National Park Service. The walk will go through open meadows and a woodlot to a large pond. A park ranger will help identify and observe the plants, prey, pollinators, and critters than live in the Shenandoah Valley. The walk is a gentle 1-mile (1.6 km) on mowed grass trails.
This tour is free and open to the public. Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear.
