Nature Printing Art Course with Julia Fonnereau – We have been hosting evening short courses with Julia for nearly a year. She is a popular tutor who will teach you methods and techniques to enthuse you with inspiration and to nurture your own techniques and art, giving you skills to pursue drawing, painting and printing on your own.
Julia is returning to her Tuesday evening slot at Southern Maltings for a new course involving drawing, printing with tetra packs and the use of a pasta machine! We promise all the fun over four weeks with this short course of printing!
Week 1: Drawing for print, making your mark and mono printing
Week 2: Developing ideas for mono print and adding texture and colour
Week 3: Tetra Pak Printing
Week 4: Developing ideas and simple Chine-collé
We love how sustainable it is to use a tetra pak for printing and then double use of an old pasta machine stuck at the back of the cupboard given a new lease of life!
All our courses with Julia are suitable for complete beginners or those artists that want to improve their techniques or just gain inspiration for new ideas in a friendly, fun and engaging group.
Julia Fonnereau is a qualified art teacher, having taught art to all age ranges from primary to A level and BTec Art and Design. She currently works as a freelance artist and surface pattern designer as Julia Fonnereau Design, specialising in animals and botanicals, and she exhibits her work all around the country including at our Southern Maltings Art and Craft Markets. Julia has been teaching art workshops to adults and children at Southern Maltings for over two years and her student return time and again for her pragmatic teaching and relaxed informal approach which nurtures your creativity.
Julia has a host of workshops and short courses in all forms of art including drawing, painting, watercolour, printing etc. Many of her workshops use interesting and original techniques including printing using a pasta machine! Her love is flora and fauna and she will share her passion for nature with you. Julia will also continue to run her evening set of courses on Tuesday evenings, which will be set into 4 week segments with a different theme for each.
All equipment and materials are included.

This course is aimed at print artists of all levels including beginners and Julia will teach you techniques to get you started or to improve your art. Suitable for anyone aged 14+.
The workshops are being run with a maximum capacity of 10 participants and will be for 2.5 hours from 7pm – 9.30pm at a cost of £80 for each four week block, or the equivalent of £20 per workshop. Light refreshments to help with your creativity are included.
The session will be held in our North Cowl, with entry via the East End of the building.
The four weeks start on Tuesday 25th February and are every week on 4th, 11th and 18th March.
