About this Event
Description: We’ll go on an adventure through the forests of Mason Mill, climb on rocks, look for critters under logs, and splash in the creek. We’ll be walking at least 1 mile, so be prepared to help your child if he/she needs it. Expect to get dirty and wet, so wear clothes and shoes that are appropriate for the activity and weather. Bring water bottles, snacks, and a change of clothes. Our trails and route are not good for strollers.
What to expect: Plan on getting dirty and navigating official and unofficial trails with Ranger Jonah on this kid-focused adventure. Here is the general schedule for this program:
- 10:00 am - families gather, welcome, and introductions
- 10:10 am - start our adventure; hike the "secret" trails of the park
- 11:00 am - stop at a creek for unstructured sand, mud, and water play
- 11:30 am - snack (bring your own) and storytime
- 12:00 pm - arrive back at the trailhead
Program leader: Your guide will be Ranger Jonah McDonald, the DeKalb County Park Naturalist at Mason Mill Park.
