Join the Madison Nature Journal Club to sketch seeds and seed pods. We’ll be indoors at a library with seed specimens laid out on tables for people to choose from. Seed pods are so fascinating and diverse--pokey, fuzzy, pointy, round, rough, smooth, lightweight, and/or heavy. The specimens I will be bringing are from Madison, from California (including redwood and sequoia), and a few other places—feel free to bring more if you’d like. DETAILS:
- MEETING SPOT: We’ll be in the library’s meeting room. Ask a librarian if you can’t find it.
- WHO SHOULD COME? No experience needed–beginners encouraged to attend! All ages are welcome. (Children should be accompanied by an adult.)
- WHAT TO BRING: drawing supplies. A pencil and paper works, or anything fancier.
- ACCESSIBILITY: accessible parking spaces, accessible building and bathrooms
- TIMING: note that we’ll be meeting for 2 hours instead of our regular 3 hours

WHAT IS NATURE JOURNALING?
Nature journaling is more than drawing or painting pictures--we also write questions and notes in our sketchbooks to wonder more deeply about nature. We’ll talk briefly about ideas of what to write, such as the writing prompts "I notice... I wonder... It reminds me of..." You'll also get some nature journaling tips about ways you could document things that you may see at the event location.
