Nature intended 4 October to 25 October 2025
An exhibition by Loeritha Saayman and Linda Raath will be opened by sculptor Sanna Swart on Saturday, 4 October 2025 at 11:00 at the Association of Arts Pretoria.
Nature Intended is a collaborative presentation by the artists and features a thoughtful combination of two-dimensional artworks and ceramic pieces, highlighting the unique artistic visions of both creators.
Both Saayman and Raath find their inspiration in the intricate structures and textures present in the natural world. Recognising that a piece of art inevitably becomes an artificial representation of its original, natural source, the artists intentionally incorporate principles of the Wabi Sabi philosophy into their selection of objects. This approach emphasises the beauty found in imperfection and impermanence, reflecting the essence of nature itself.
Saayman uses a range of mediums in her two-dimensional pieces to create depth and layered effects. These techniques encourage viewers to engage with and appreciate the subtle details within the works, often drawing attention to elements such as plant materials and rock formations. Her art captures the shifting shapes and colours that result from natureβs ongoing cycles of transformation, growth and decay.
Raathβs artistic response to the organic forms of anthills is expressed through asymmetrical ceramic vases. Her work is also inspired by the forms of plants and insects, resulting in creations that invite viewers to see them through a lens of imagination and fantasy. The ceramics embody the dynamic and unpredictable qualities found in the natural world.
The exhibition runs until Saturday, 25 October 2025.
