Nature and Socially-engaged Arts Practice: Facing the Climate Crisis
Advertisement
Nature connectedness as a process to feed creativity. One day workshop involving guided discussion, nature based experience and reflection.
VENUE TBC [Greyfield Woods or Radstock]
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for any artist [emerging, experienced or established] who wants to make space for discussing the role of socially engaged and participatory art practice in relation to the Climate and Ecological Emergency [CEE].
What will I gain from the workshop?
You will be able to take some time to reflect on our purpose within socially-engaged arts. If we are in this to improve wellbeing [in its broadest sense], should we consider the role are we playing in the CEE?
Context and Content
What is our reciprocal relationship with the living world when we practice art in nature?
Knowing that our actions as a practitioner are contributing to a thriving future feeds our wellbeing on a deep, some might say spiritual, level.
Natural compounds for art making are an example of breaking away from ecologically damaging practices. What we use goes into the air and the water course. This has a current and significant future impact on everyone's health and wellbeing.
EcoWild's Wild Art courses will be used as a discussion topic for how creativity and reflection of aesthetic is practiced in nature. You will be encouraged to share and discuss your own interests and practices.
In this workshop we acknowledge that we are all on a journey with this so can learn together.
Where are we now?
What would our next steps be if we were better informed?
We will also learn by experience and reflection in nature and wellbeing.
