About this Event
Discover the art and science of making ink from nature in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop. You’ll explore how plants, minerals, and everyday natural materials can be transformed into rich, usable inks using simple, traditional methods.
Workshops are hosted straight from my studio in Edinburgh (which is located on the 6th floor but wheelchair accessible), with a wonderful view of the Pentlands. Weather-depending, we will stat the session by taking a wander to Saughton Park & Gardens, located minutes walk from the building, to forage for our own ingredients.).
Participants will learn about color extraction, basic ink chemistry, and how different ingredients affect tone and texture. You’ll make several small batches of natural ink, experiment with writing and mark-making tools, and leave with samples to take home.
This class is perfect for artists, writers, educators, and anyone curious about sustainable, low-impact creative practices.
