It's the first ever "Natural" History Bike Gainesville! Archaeology will share the stage with other oligies! Come along and learn about local native plants, wildlife, and geology and how they impacted the cultural landscape. The meet-up time is 1:30 in front of the Depot Building at Depot Park (Parkside Subs & Shop and Goldies), and the roll-out time is 2:00.
This is a longer ride than usual...10 miles to Alachua Lake Overlook and ends at the Dreamers Garden and Cypress&Grove. The entire route is on a nicely paved trail. There will be many stops, but it should not take more than 2 hours.
Highlights should include flowering pawpaws and many other native plants, sinkholes, alligators, gopher tortoises, and an overview of the cultural use of the natural resources in the area!
- The tour will last about 2 hours and end at Cypress & Grove. Let's be safe!
- Helmets and personal water are strongly recommended!
- If it looks like rain, we will cancel and reschedule!
- $5 suggested donation
