To celebrate the autumn and UK Fungus Day, Sonny and Fergus will be leading a natural history exploration at Corstorphine Hill Nature Reserve, followed by a specimen identification session in their garden space nearby.
We will meet at the Clermiston Road entrance to Corstorphine hill Nature reserve (nearest the walled garden on Google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/3LNYNQzjaoyV2yHv5) at 1.30pm, spend about an hour and a half exploring the area and collecting fungi and plant specimens for identification (photos and small samples. We will discuss sustainable, legal, and safe collecting).
At 3pm we will head to our garden a 15-20min walk away, where identification guides and various other tools will be available, and we can talk about identification and potentially recording our finds online (or you are welcome just to browse the guides and have some quiet time). We may also have a small fire and vegan snacks / hot drinks.
You are very welcome to come to either or both parts of this afternoon, but please register your interest so that we have an idea of numbers and provide travel info.

Note: if the weather looks bad, we may need to push this session back to one of the other Saturdays in October. Do make sure you bring warm waterproof layers and suitable footwear.
Accessibility information:
Corstorphine Hill has step-free access, but moderately steep and uneven slopes and paths. Our garden is unfortunately not wheelchair-accessible. There is one step down to the main garden. There will be access to a toilet in the main house, up one fight of stairs. There will also be a small friendly dog (Kifl, to those who know her!)
