Come learn how to weave a natural wreath and decorate it with foraged greenery and festive embellishments.
About this Event

Join Silvie as she helps teach a small group how to weave a beautiful festive wreath, perfect for hanging on your door or using as a table centrepiece. Then intertwine with evergreen leaves picked from site and decorate with dried oranges, cinnamon sticks and more festive foliage.

You’ll get to learn new skills using natural materials, learn about the seasons and what they can offer us, and help reduce waste this festive season. All the supplies and tools will be provided. This workshop includes a 15 minute break with warm drinks and of course mince pies.

Date and time: Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November, 12 midday - 2pm

Group size: Maximum of 6 people, aged 14+

Price: £25

Accessibility: We have a small composting toilet available on site. This session will be run from our Phase 1 Urban Farm so please wear weather proof clothing and sturdy waterproof shoes. In the case of bad weather, we will move into our indoor cabin.

Wreaths have a long history in many cultures from head dresses worn by the Greek, Roman and Persian empires that symbolized power and authority, to Pagan, German and Scandinavian cultures who used wreaths to honour the sun and the promise of spring. And farmers often used harvest wreaths made of wheat to protect their crops. The circle shape symbolised eternity and the evergreen leaves signify hope and life. Learn about the history of wreaths and more with Silvie.

Your wreath will last the entirety of the festive season even if kept outdoors, you can then compost it, or save and re-use the woven base for next year.

If you book and are unable to attend, please email [email protected]. We cannot offer refunds but tickets are transferable. If you have any questions or queries, please email us and we’ll be happy to help.
