Join Peta Ann and myself for a day learning all about natural dyeing. Peta Ann dyes the natural yarns we use on our workshops and also sells through Modern Yarn, a local yarn shop in Formby, Merseyside. She is currently dyeing her yarns from the foraged materials in her local park through the seasons, where she is taking leaves and weeds to create beautiful colours in her yarn. You can't fail to be inspired.
During the day which runs from 10am till 4pm we will cover:
how to scour your yarn effectively
how to use mordants and which are the best for your project
how to dye using powders and where to source these
how to dye using foraged materials
how to moderate the colours you achieve
There will be plenty of theory, notes and worksheets, demo's and you'll also dye your own skeins of yarn. This will allow you to have all the information you need to go home and confidently start creating your own collection of naturally dyed yarn.
Refreshments are included throughout the day. Lunch isn't but there is a brilliant cafe onsite that has veggie and vegan options and we highly recommend them.
The room is on the ground floor and is fully accessible. There are accessible toilets too.
The venue is in the Brewery Village, Grafton Street, Liverpool. The building is called Northern Lights and Ryde Cafe is situated in there. The postcode is L8 5AF. There is parking right outside and you might even be lucky enough to get a space on the street.
