About this Event
Learn several ways to make color with leaves and flowers from dye plants (indigo) and native wildflowers on a working, urban farm with artist, Iviva Olenick.
We will start with a light harvest of seasonal plants. Next, Iviva will demo several mono-printing and dyeing methods with Isatis tinctoria (woad) leaves and seasonal flowers. Participants will then jump in and create prints and dyes on fabric with these same methods and plants.
Important notes:
• Materials provided.
• RSVP required. If you need to cancel, please do so as soon as you realize you can't make it to free up your spot for other participants.
• The walk from the ferry and the farm are in direct sun. We will do our dye-making in the shade. Nevertheless, wear/bring sunblock, a hat, water to drink and a snack if needed. And wear walking shoes!
