NATO IN THE SOUTH: Strategic Reflections and Cooperative Security

Mediterranean and the wider Middle East are increasingly central to global strategic dynamics, shaped by regional instability and the influence of external actors such as Russia and China.
The region’s maritime, energy, and digital vulnerabilities underline its crucial importance for Euro-Atlantic security, as highlighted at the 2024 NATO Summit. Recent initiatives, including the NATO Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood and the liaison office in Amman, demonstrate renewed focus on the Southern flank.
The conference, at The Hive Hotel Rome, "Adalberto Libera" Room, from 15:00 to around 19:00, will bring together experts and practitioners to discuss political developments, the evolution of MD and ICI partnerships, and practical NATO–EU cooperation in maritime security, hybrid threats, and counter-terrorism.
