About this Event
Join staff from the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District and Indy Urban Acres for a Native Plant Workshop to learn about maintaning native plantings and common invasives you are likely to encounter in Marion County! The workshop will be held at the main Indy Urban Acres (IUA) site , where IUA has established a 5 acre urban farm to serve the local community. The workshop will highlight several facets of native plants including the following topics:
- Native plant selection for rain gardens and backyard habitat creation
- Common invasive plants and how to manage them, including maintenance demonstrations at the farm's bioswales and rain garden
- Information on additional upcoming workshops
- Distribution of native plant educational resources
The program is funded with the generous support of a grant from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture's Clean Water Indiana program.
Attendees will be limited to 25 registrants.

When: 9:00-12 Noon on Friday 7/26. Wear appropriate outdoor attire for gardening and maintenance activities! This is a working farm with lots of opportunities for hands on learning.
