About this Event
Join staff from the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District and Indy Urban Acres for a Native Plant Workshop to learn about native plant identification and instalation strategies! The workshop will be held at the newest Indy Urban Acres (IUA) site located at Faith UMC, where IUA has established a 3 acre urban farm to serve the local community. The workshop will highlight several facets of native plants including the following topics:
- Native plant identification (forbs and graminoids)
- Native plant installation techniques
- Native plant selection for urban agriculture, rain gardens and backyard habitat creation
- Information on upcoming workshops
- Distribution of native plant resources
The workshop will also include planting activities at a wetland area at the new farm.
The program is funded with the generous support of a grant from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture's Clean Water Indiana program with supplemental funding from the National Association of Conservation Districts.
Attendees will be limited to 25 registrants.

When: 9:00-12 Noon on Friday 9/27. Wear appropriate outdoor attire for planting activities! Planting tools and drinking water will be provided.
