Winter sowing is a cost-effective, low-maintenance way of starting plants in winter for next year’s garden. Seeds are planted in recycled containers that act as “mini-greenhouses."Join us at 10:30 a.m. Sat., Feb. 1 and learn more about this technique, see a demonstration, and create your own sample to take home and get a jump start on the gardening season.
You will learn:
Why it’s important to start your native perennial seeds in winter
How to create your own mini-greenhouses from milk jugs. Additional locally grown, adapted native seeds will also be available to take home for more winter sowing fun.
Soil and seeds will be provided. Please bring two repurposed plastic containers (i.e. milk jugs). Feel free to bring your own native plant seeds if you have them.
