Join us for the first event in our 2025 Native Plant Speaker Series! Courtney Denning from Deeply Rooted Landscapes will present "Gardening for Birds" and teach you how to create a bird-friendly garden by planting native plants. This presentation focuses on attracting birds by providing food, shelter, and water through gardening.Presenter Courtney Denning has been interested in nature and studying wildlife since childhood. She started birdwatching at Aullwood Audubon in junior high and continued her college natural studies with a plant ecology major at Ohio University. She has worked as an environmental educator, social media manager, and library program manager. Before working at Deeply Rooted Landscapes, she worked at the Piqua Public Library, where she started the Piqua Seed Library. Since beginning work at DRL in June 2022, she has been creating garden designs, doing consultations, and managing the social media accounts and website. She has been creating native plant gardens at her home since 2016. She doesn’t have a lot of space, but in less than ¼ acre, she is growing 200 native Ohio plants!
Meet for this event in the auditorium at Aullwood's Farm Discovery Center at 9101 Frederick Pike, Dayton OH 45414. Preregistration is not required. All ages are welcome, but please, no dogs. This event is free for members of Friends of Aullwood, National Audubon Society, and ANCA affiliated organizations with membership card or receipt. Non-members attending pay regular Aullwood admission, free for children 3 and under, $8.00 for children 4 to 12, $12.00 for adults 13 to 64, and $10.00 for seniors age 65 and over, active duty military members and veterans with military ID.
