Welcome to the Native Fashion Runway Show!
Join the Spencer Museum of Art as we welcome 11 designers and over 50 models to the runway in conjunction with the Native Fashion exhibition. This runway show will be held in the Ballroom on the 5th floor of the Kansas Union, and will feature Indigenous designers from across Indian country. There will be 10 designers on the runway, with a special flash modeling event from B.A.A. by Tyrell Begay (Shoshone/ Paiute/ Navajo). On the runway, you will see designs from:
- ALTRN8V by Courtney Little Axe (Northern Cheyenne/Absentee Shawnee/Seminole)
- A Tipi Makers Daughter by Claudia Tyner Little Axe (Seneca-Cayuga, Absentee Shawnee & Mvskoke)
- Inspired by LCR by Lisa C Redford (Three Affiliated Tribes; Hidatsa [MHA Nation])
- Igluhan Mani by Ryia LeBeau (Thitunwan of the Oceti Sakowin / Diné)
- James Star Comes Out (Oglala Lakota)
- KaPashkMoQuah by Rebecca Harmon (Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation)
- Katrina Her Many Horses (Oglala Lakota, Cheyenne, Taos Pueblo, Meskwaki & Leech Lake Ojibwe)
- Oh Kiyo by Anna Frye (Chickasaw/Choctaw)
- Sage Mountainflower (Ohkay Owingeh, Taos Pueblo and Diné)
- Sunrise Creations by Diamond Williams (Tlingit)
The show will provide 2 hours of stunning designs and intricate craftsmanship, as models showcase traditional and contemporary looks. The accompanying market will give you the chance to chat with designers and purchase works from the designers and other Native artists.
Tickets are free and required for entry. All tickets are general admission. You may claim up to 10 tickets for the runway show. Doors open at 3PM. We look forward to seeing you there!
