Sunnyside finds the little tramp working at a farm in the morning and a hotel in the afternoon. Charlie finds himself in plenty of situations, making breakfast with help from the cow and hen, herding cattle that ends up interrupting the local church service, knocked out he dreams of dancing with nymphs, and moping the floor while residents are lounging about. When a city slicker gets into a car accident, Charlie finds himself jealous of his would-be girlfriend's attention towards him. Trying to mimic the city slicker backfires for him and he soon discovers it's better to just be himself.

The Cabinet of Dr. Calligari
As two men sit together, one recalls a horrible experience he and his fiancé Jane recently went through. He tells the tale of a wondering showman, Dr. Calligari, thrills carnival goers with his exhibit of a somnambulist (a sleepwalker). Little do they know that Dr. Calligari is using his sleepwalking oddity to commit murder in the nearby small community.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari catapulted the film movement known as German Expressionism. Whose effect can be seen in Hollywood, from the Universal Classic Monster Movies of the 30's & 40's all the way to modern cinema, including the Nicolas Cage movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022).
