Working with defence and national security - selling out? cashing in?

Western militaries and security agencies are increasingly looking to non-traditional suppliers from the commercial sector of solutions that will give them an edge. How should we think about this? Who are these people, what do they really want, and can we trust them? What are the ethical, commercial and technology pathway implications of working with them?

Hugh Liddell, one of the mentors in the SETsquared Surrey network, has spent the past four years helping early-stage technology companies evaluate and approach the market opportunity presented by the national security sector. Before that, he served in the military. He is passionate about getting people talking about national security - debunking stereotypes, highlighting market specific perils, and generally enabling people to ask the questions they have previously been unable or unwilling to ask.

Hugh has offered to host a Q&A and discussion session on this topic to facilitate that conversation within our community. Whether you want to know how to start, whether to trust them, what they want, or if you just fancy watching a mentor sweat under intense questioning by your fellow community members for a while, why not come along and get talking?
