DetailsJoin HumanistsMN to commemorate National Religious Freedom Day at a forum to explore the true meaning of religious freedom, a principle enshrined in our Constitution to protect the right of Americans of all faiths -- or no faith -- to practice their beliefs.
**This event is free but registration is required. Please RSVP at the link below.** A reception at 4:30 p.m. will follow the program.
Unfortunately, some have interpreted “religious freedom” to mean the right to discriminate against LGBTQ people, curtail reproductive rights, deny services, or impose religion in schools and other public spaces. With the return of Donald Trump to power, backed by Christian nationalists, these threats are likely to grow.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Rachel Laser, President & CEO of Americans United for Separation of Church and State in Washington, D.C., will explain what’s at stake in the battle over religious freedom and the steps her group is taking to fight back against the erosion of church-state separation.
She will be joined by local panelists who will discuss how the principle of religious freedom affects their work in Minnesota.
