About this Event
Join Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for a Headliners luncheon on Wednesday, January 28 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Press Club. Mayor Johnson will address the ramifications of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) crackdowns on Chicagoans, federal intervention into local government and public safety.
On January 12, the City of Chicago joined a lawsuit challenging actions by federal immigration agents and the policies of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and ICE. President Trump said he will deny federal funding to any states that are home to local governments resisting his administration's immigration policies starting February 1.
Mayor Johnson began his career as a public-school teacher. He served as an organizer with the Chicago Teachers Union and Cook County Commissioner of the 1st District before being sworn in as the 57th Mayor of the City of Chicago on May 15, 2023. In less than seven months, candidates can formally start passing petitions to get on the 2027 ballot for the next mayoral election.
The Headliners event begins with lunch in the Holeman Lounge at 12:30 p.m. Remarks begin at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. National Press Club members may purchase tickets for $25. Non-member tickets cost $30.
To reserve a table of 8 and for all ticketing-related questions, please email [email protected]. All guest information must be confirmed 72 hours before the start of the event. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
