About this Event
You are invited to "Innocent Until Proven Greek: How Academic Bureaucracies Threaten Student Civil Liberties," a breakfast panel at the National Press Club hosted by the Fraternity and Sorority Action Fund. The discussion will examine how ever-growing administrative control at universities has endangered individual rights of freedom of association, due process, privacy, and more, as well as how some students are fighting back. While students participating in Greek life are often prime targets for administrators, these actions can create a ripple effect throughout colleges and universities, leaving all students vulnerable.
Moderator: Dr. Dawn Wiese (Chief Operating Officer of FRMT, Ltd., former Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Washington and Lee University)
Panelists: Dr. Steve McGuire (Paul & Karen Levy Fellow in Campus Freedom at American Council of Trustees and Alumni [ACTA]), Micah Kamrass (Adjunct Professor at the University of Louisville and attorney specializing in higher education law at Manley Burke), Garrett Bruce (fraternity president at the University of Maryland), and Farah Aliabadi (sorority president at the University of Maryland).
Registration is required and non-transferrable. Complimentary hot breakfast is included.
