About this Event
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) & Basic Life Support and Anaphylaxis Management qualifications.
The course syllabus is split into three sections:
Section 1 - The Lifeguard, Swimming Pool and Supervision
Section 2 - Intervention, Rescue and Emergency Action Plan
Section3 - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, AED and Anaphylaxis
The course will include continual assessment of understanding of the syllabus and practical skills. Candidates must demonstrate competence in all aspects of the syllabus to be put forward to the end of course assessment, taken by an independent assessor.
The assessment consists of a multiple choice theory paper containing 58 questions and practical assessment both in the swimming pool and on CPR and First aid elements. Any candidates who fail to pass all elements of the assessment will have 28 days to retake failed elements. Further fees will be chargeable for any additional support, training and assessments.
Should any reasonable adjustments need to be considered with regards to the theory/practical assessment please contact your training course provider as soon as possible to discuss to allow the training provider to look into any available options and consult with the qualification awarding body if required.
Following the assessment, the NPLQ qualification will remain valid for 2 years. You can then renew the qualification providing that you have attended regular staff training in the workplace during the 2 year period and have a minimum of 20 hours of ongoing training covering a range of the NPLQ syllabus.
Anaphylaxis qualifications are valid for 2 years. You are required to attend the relevant course to update these qualifications. In some circumstances these qualifications can be updated at the time of an NPLQ renewal.
