Topic: The Essential Practices of the Responsive Nonprofit
This workshop invites you to be "all in." The session is designed to foster whole group learning, small group application sprints, and individual reflection. Time will fly by quickly as our presenter / facilitator invites us to unpack three essential practices of the responsive nonprofit.
They are:
1. Dismantling siloes and increasing transparency
2. Using storytelling to invite engagement and drive change
3. Mindset shifts: relationships (not ‘funds’ raising) and abundance
In small groups, you’ll be asked to consider WHY this is important in my setting; HOW can I make this work in my setting; and WHAT will I practice and WITH WHOM?

Lunch Keynote: Gary Hubbell: Change Your Words. Change The World.
Our nonprofit organizations have missions that excite and animate us… AND… we’re unintentionally sucking the life out of people! Think about it. We use language that plays it so safe that we too often bore and confuse people. Our missions NEED us to shift our mindsets and our language. After lunch, get ready for a short sprint into possibility. Your next conversation might sound completely different!
1:30 – 2:30 PM: Afternoon Workshop presentation with Gary Hubbell
Topic Name: The Root Conditions of Stellar Board Service
The post-lunch workshop intends to catalyze a much more elevated and practical conversation among board members and between board members and professional staff.
This fast-paced, highly interactive session will lift up four conditions that make board service more personally rewarding to volunteer board members and more valuable and authentic to staff.
This session will invite you to absorb, reflect, and apply learnings around four essentials:
1. Passion/mission alignment – fuels your natural story
2. Meaningful engagement – feeds your soul & elevates your contribution
3. Curiosity about possibility (aka, imagination) – expands your reach and impact
4. Action between meetings - defines your highest value to staff

About the presenter: Gary Hubbell
While I don’t take myself too seriously, I’m serious about coaxing from individual leaders and organizations their highest and best expression for positive, cascading impact.
In a nutshell, I teach people how to do hard stuff by first reconnecting them to what they’re already good at. I give inspired leaders a framework for influencing change and motivating action.
In the early days people came to me for toolkit stuff (campaign studies, board retreat facilitation, research projects, and strategic plans). My practice has evolved as the needs of clients have evolved. The pattern I see now is prospective clients feeling:
Uncertain about the way forward
Desire to get everyone on the same page
Recognition that conventional methods aren’t working anymore
Weariness from the pursuit of metrics not tied to social improvements
Confusion stemming from complexity and risk related to every move
A growing sense of isolation—as if their perspective is now out of sync with their colleagues
Fear of being seen as not having the answer
What’s the Value to You?
What we’re offering you is simple … and powerful. It’s the activation and translation of shared imagination. The result is you feeling grounded and confident before your dearest stakeholders. For your business, that means accelerating direction, inflection, and the fuel by which to get there.
