The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, the City of Abbeville, and local first responder agencies and businesses have come together to host Vermilion Parish’s first National Night Out community event, which will be held at A.A. Comeaux Park (Badon Field) on October 7th from 5-7pm. This free event is designed to encourage the community to come together to meet first responders and explore emergency vehicles while enjoying refreshments and fun.
While you’re there, stop by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and Champagne’s Supermarket tents for burgers and hot dogs then go to the Ray Chevrolet tent for chips and a drink. Deputies will also be handing out ice cream sandwiches provided by Blue Bell.
DJ Wesley “Wesbound” LeMaire and Social Inflatables have generously provided music and a fun jump; coloring books and giveaways will be under the Sheriff Eddie Langlinais tent; and Daren the Lion and McGruff the Crime Dog will be there visiting with kids. Additionally, the Vermilion Parish Library will be present with fun handouts for kids.
Louisiana State Police, Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, Abbeville Police Department, Acadian Ambulance Services, and Abbeville Fire Department will have their emergency vehicles on-site for children and families to explore. Kids will also be able to try on SWAT gear, tour the VPSO Command Post, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what our Investigative Support Unit sees through camera feeds.
Sheriff Eddie Langlinais offers his sincere gratitude to these agencies and businesses that serve Vermilion Parish for their generosity. This night would not be possible without the time and efforts of all involved. A special thank you also goes to Senator Bob Hensgens and Representative Ryan Bourriaque for their contributions to this community event.
