The National Day of Service encourages community members to show unity and kindness in tribute and remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, at the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the open field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Event Details
Meet-up Information: Participants will meet at 7:00 a.m. at Ed Hooper Park for the opening ceremonies featuring Mayor Craig McFarland, Mayor-elect Lisa Fitzgibbons, local Arizona State Legislators, and Frank Sala, a New York City Firefighter.
Activities Planned
-Litter Removal
-Painting city structures
-Landscaping
Note: Trash bags and gloves will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants may bring their own supplies.
Special Features
-Onsite displays depicting the events of 9/11
-Arts & Culture Commission table for creating cards and letters to first responders and military
