Join The Bookshop Band members Beth Porter and Ben Please as they bring books to the stage along with a multitude of instruments, to create a cinematic sound that draws the audience in, at once touching and mesmerizing, heart wrenching and funny.The concert will feature songs from the album, inspired by authors including Margaret Atwood, Philip Pullman and Robert Macfarlane among others, and you’ll leave enchanted with new melodies and stories, plus a few new book recommendations of your own.
The band will play two 45-minute sets with a break in between, giving you a chance to browse the bookstall and the books that inspired the songs, chat with Ben and Beth, and enjoy a drink in the garden.
Emerge, Return will be out on Friday 28 June, as a limited edition, with artwork by Stanley Donwood, and will be available to pre-order on vinyl and CD before then.
Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start, you’re welcome to arrive, grab a drink and relax in the Great Hall or the garden (weather permitting!).
